IntelliArm is a specially designed around the shape and function of the human arm, with segments and joints corresponding to those of the person it is externally coupled with.
With a delicate design, IntelliArm could diagnose sophisticated impairments in the whole arm including abnormality at a joint problem as well as abnormal couplings between joints.
After an accurate and personalized diagnosis, IntelliArm would provide a specific therapy program optimized for individuals. The therapy includes multiple sessions: passive stretching, active movement training and clinical evaluations. Such therapy could be performed on either selected single joint or coupling of multiple joints.
Instead of boring oral instructions and tedious trainings, now patients could play interesting computer games specially designed for clinical evaluation and passive/assistive/active exercises, respectively. Playing games with impaired arm would largely enhance patients’ motivations, gain confidence, and enable better clinical efficacy.
